About Us

Balcony Gardening Ideas is a blog created for everyone who loves growing something green — even if all you have is a few feet of balcony, pots, bottles, etc.

I’m Abraham, the person behind this project.

Balcony gardening started for me as a simple childhood habit and slowly became one of the most satisfying parts of my life.

Over the last 15 years, I have done many experiments, such as growing 3 varieties of tomato in one plant, using the grafting technique, and many more.

Too many times I failed (like when I tried to grow mango, in the winter season, by creating artificial temperatures.

I did many more experiments and found what truly works for small-space gardening.

This site is where I put all of it together — to help you do the same.

Our Story

I honestly can’t remember a time when I wasn’t around plants.

My family has always had a deep connection with farming and growing food, not just for them, but also for others.

My grandparents had farmland, my mother helped them when she was a kid, and our home was always filled with green pots and the smell of herbs. And also with too many fruits, rice, wheat, etc.

I still remember one thing clearly — I was tiny, maybe five or six, and my grandfather would hand me a small candy whenever I watered the plants with my little metal can.

That was my first reward for gardening.

By the time I turned ten and moved to the city, I decided to grow on my own.

We had a cracked clay pot at home — the kind used for cooking — and I filled it with some soil, sprinkled coriander seeds, and waited.

When the first green shoots appeared, I got an awesome satisfaction.

That small clay pot started a lifetime habit.

Today, my “garden” fits on my apartment balcony, but it’s full of herbs, flowers, vegetables, and even tiny fruits like strawberries and cherry tomatoes.

Our Mission

At Balcony Gardening Ideas, the goal is simple — to help you create a green, peaceful, and productive balcony space, no matter how small or sunny it is.

We focus on three things:

  1. Practical balcony gardening guides – so beginners can start confidently.
  2. Creative and sustainable ideas – using recycled materials and DIY methods.
  3. Inspiration – to show that you don’t need a backyard to grow your own food or build a relaxing spot surrounded by plants.

I promote balcony gardening as it has many benefits, such as improving air quality, reducing stress, and bringing you closer to nature.

Plus, getting your own vegetables and herbs also means eating fresher, more organic food.

Why Balcony Gardening

In cities, we don’t have enough space, like in suburban or rural areas. But we have balconies.

So, it’s good to utilize balcony space, it’s good for the environment and ourselves.

When you start growing your own vegetables or herbs, you will notice the small details that make life better.

The way the soil smells after rain. The way sunlight changes a plant’s color.

Feeling when you’ll sit in your own balcony garden early in the morning.

A small balcony with a few healthy plants can make a huge difference in your day.

My Gardening Philosophy

I believe balcony gardening should be simple, practical, and joyful.

I don’t follow complicated setups or expensive systems. I reuse containers, make my own compost, and test things myself before recommending them.

My approach is always hands-on:

  • If something fails, I figure out why.
  • If a method works, I simplify it so anyone can follow.
  • If there’s a creative idea worth trying, I’ll test it first on my own balcony before writing about it. And sometimes I also talk to my mother.

Everything on this blog is built from that mindset — real experiences, real plants, and real results.

Sustainable & Organic Living

At Balcony Gardening Ideas, we also promote organic and sustainable gardening practices

I avoid chemical fertilizers and prefer natural compost, home-made pest sprays, and smart watering systems. (Sometimes, I use store-bought things too, but homemade is always first.)

However, even small-space gardeners can contribute to the environment by:

  • Recycling containers and bottles for planting.
  • Reducing food waste by composting kitchen scraps.
  • Growing pollinator-friendly flowers that help bees and butterflies.

Every little step counts, and balcony gardening is one of the easiest ways to live a greener life.

Meet Abraham

I’m Abraham — a balcony gardener, food lover, and experimenter who believes small spaces can grow big things.

I live in an apartment, but I’ve turned my balcony into a small ecosystem filled with herbs, vegetables, and flowers.

I enjoy cooking, so growing my own ingredients feels natural.

Most of the time, I’m testing new ideas, from soil blends to self-watering systems, and share what actually works.

Final Note

Every plant you grow is a small step toward a calmer, greener world.

If you ever think your balcony is too small for gardening, trust me — it’s not.

I started with a cracked clay pot and a handful of coriander seeds, and it completely changed how I see space and growth.
