Hi — I’m Abraham, the person behind Balcony Gardening Ideas.
I started this blog because balcony gardening became more than just a small hobby for me —
It connects my love for growing food, experimenting with plants, and cooking with my own fresh herbs and vegetables.
I grow a mix of things right on my balcony — tomatoes, strawberries, mint, coriander, basil, chillies, flowers like night-blooming jasmine — anything that fits in a pot or recycled container.
Most of what I grow ends up in my kitchen because I enjoy cooking as much as gardening.
For me, it’s special about using your own organic herbs and vegetables in everyday meals.
How it all started
Gardening runs in my family. My grandparents had farmland, and my mother used to help them when she was young.
Before moving to an urban area (at the age of 10), I grew up around plants and homegrown food.
So even with a small balcony, I knew I wanted to keep that tradition alive in my own way.
When I started experimenting with containers, different soil mixes, and balcony layouts, I realized how much potential even a small space has.
I didn’t even buy too many things from the market. When I was young, my mother helped make fertilizer with kitchen waste. And that was a very good feeling, when I used to see my plants growing.
Now it’s been over 15 Years, I’m still doing it as a passionate home gardener.
So, from there, Balcony Gardening Ideas was born — a place where I share everything I’ve learned and continue to test.
What you’ll find here
On this site, I share practical, tested guides about:
- Setting up your balcony garden — soil, drainage, sunlight, and layout ideas.
- Vegetables, herbs, and fruits that grow well in small spaces.
- DIY balcony projects using recycled materials or simple tools.
- Design & decor inspiration to make your balcony look peaceful and green.
- Seasonal tips and maintenance routines for every kind of weather.
- Guide and Maintenance to keep your plants healthy.
Everything I post comes from personal experience, real trials, and sometimes even little mistakes that taught me what actually works.
I like giving honest, realistic advice — not textbook theories.
My approach
I test, observe, and write only what I’ve tried myself. Whether it’s creating self-watering planters, finding the right pot size, or growing herbs under partial shade — it’s all done right on my own balcony.
I don’t believe that we need a lot of land and too many tools.
Even if you have a few pots, used plastic or soda bottles, you can do gardening. By doing so, you can turn your balcony into a calm green space.
Why I write
I write because I want to show how simple and rewarding balcony gardening can be.
Even if you live in an apartment where you get limited sunlight, you can still grow something.
My goal is to make Balcony Gardening Ideas a place where you can find trustworthy, experience-based guides. This will help you grow vegetables, fruits, herbs, flowers, or whatever you want.
Thanks for visiting and being part of this small-space gardening community.
— Abraham
